About the role

We are currently looking for a UX Designer to join Vaisala and work on the AviMet®- product team. AviMet is an aviation weather management system that ensures safe and efficient airport operations in all weather conditions. In the AviMet team you will be responsible for the UI design. You will create both UI concepts and detailed UI designs. You will also advocate and support in user research, concept validation and usability testing. The daily work will be done in the product team but you will also have the support of the c.a. 20 person strong   Vaisala Design team that you will also be part of.

Work tasks

• Detailed UI design to support and guide the development work. This includes both interaction design & graphic design. In the graphic design the design guidelines and the other team members will help and guide in finding and implementing the visual style.
• UI concept design to support the product management in the long-term development and product innovation.
• User centered design process and tools knowledge and applying these in practice (e.g. user research, prototyping, validation and usability testing)
• Contribute to the design system work

We are looking for

• Relevant educational background in design or related fields (Arts & Design, Engineer M.Sc. or B.Sc. etc.)
• Over 2 years prior work experience in UX designing
• Understanding of UX Designer or Service Designer work tasks
• Knowledge of Figma
• Ambition to learn and grow as a professional UX Designer
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in English

It is meritorious if you have

• Good written and verbal communication skills in Finnish
